Gartner published their first Application Services Governance Magic Quadrant (MQ) in 2013. Mashery–the company that invented API management–was named a Leader in that original MQ, and was reaffirmed again as a Leader in Gartner’s recently updated Application Services Governance Magic Quadrant, which you can download here. The Mashery team has watched many companies enter the API Management business over the years, so being recognized by Gartner this way again was particularly gratifying.

In addition to inventing the API management space, Mashery was also the first company to offer a multitenant SaaS platform, the first to host a series of highly informative conferences on the business of APIs, the first to achieve PCI compliance, and the first to offer business-side API packaging so that non-IT users can define API methods without coding.

Between the first and second MQs, the Mashery team expanded rapidly outside the United States, managed enormous API call volume growth of nearly 300%, grew their developer network to nearly 350,000 active developers and nearly 100,000 active applications, and continue to be instrumental in helping Intel (who acquired Mashery in 2013) shape the emerging conversation around the Internet of Things.

Mashery continues to grow and strengthen their product offerings to meet customer needs. The entire team knows that maintaining laser focus on exceeding customer expectations is the key to staying out in front of the competition, and in the Leader quadrant in the Gartner MQ.
